Dr. Mark Whitefield joins Alan for a rousing discussion of how implants can change everything for the general dentist. Mark is a fourth generation dentist from Nashville who admits to being obsessed with dental implants!

• Mark talks about being accredited in both the AACD and AAID and how that's made him a better dentist.
• Mark graduated in the mid 90's during the big cosmetic boom but switched his focus to dental implants in the early 2000's.
• What I noticed about Mark is that his mindset is that dental implants can be for anyone. Not just high end/wealthy patients.
• Mark hates removable! He tries to get edentulous patients back to TRUE FIXED! (particularly in the mandible)

Following the thread from last week's discussion, we're taking a close look at how hygienists get paid and, most importantly, how they can get paid well. Rachel Wall (who previously appeared on episode 109) was kind enough to stop by again to discuss how compensation can be most efficiently and fairly distributed throughout any clinic's hygiene department.

Rachel Teel Wall, RDH, BS, is the founder and owner of Inspired Hygiene. Through coaching and seminars, Inspired Hygiene aims to maximize the profit and productivity of every dental team's hygiene department with a particular focus on compensation models. Her two decades of experience in the industry encompasses her time as both a hygienist and an office administrator.

In this episode, Rachel chats with us about the importance of everyone playing their role in a dental practice and what she thinks makes for an ideal compensation model.

• What would you do if a hygiene patient from earlier in the day called the office and wanted to talk to the doctor. When the doc comes to the phone the patient explains that they didn't feel that the hygienist was using proper COVID protocols/PPE?
• You’ve diagnosed a cavity clinically and radiographically on the distal of #3. Treatment planned a DOL filling to close the contact which was packing food. As you prepare, you realize that the decay goes quite gingival and placing a direct restorative is going to be a mess. Patient is expecting a filling. What do you do?
• What do you do when you find out a team member is sleeping with a patient?
• When you identify that a child is a victim of abuse, how do you proceed?
