The Very Dental Podcast Network

Jason and Alan are joined by Dr. Dawn Kulongowski, Sandy Pardue and Elizabeth Corbin to talk about hiring in the dental office.

Most owner dentists cringe when they have to hire someone new. What's the best way to know what you'll really get from a new employee? How do you sort through the applicants. This Brain Trust is packed full of no nonsense, actionable ideas for hiring. Let by Sandy Pardue of Classic Practice Resources, you'll be ready to fill your next opening in record time and get the right person. Some of these techniques are downright diabolical but they're all awesome. Get a pen and some paper before you start listening, because you're going to want to take notes!

In today's episode the Dental Hacks go back to basics again! No guests. No Brain Trust. Just Jlips and Al. So what do we have to talk about? As always...lots.

  • A listener proposes a low debt way to do a startup. Can it work?
  • What's the simplest and most consistent way to do class II composites?
  • Howard Farran thinks new grads need to do every procedure to service their debt? What do the Hacks think?
  • A whole bunch of other stuff

This was the first Grab Bag we broadcast (partially) on Facebook Live! Let us know what you thought!

Dr. Jason Smithson talks about how he treatment plans, prepares, temporizes and restores teeth for all kinds of ceramic restorations.

"Jason Smithson is that composite guy with Cosmedent, right?" Not so fast there, cowboy. He does teach at Cosmedent and he does teach some really great composite courses. But he's no one trick pony. In his upcoming course, "Minimally Invasive Ceramic Restorations: From Concept to Completion" he's teaching how he treatment plans, prepares, temporizes and restores teeth that need ceramic onlays and crowns.

He also talks about the old but new style of preparations called "vertical" or "edgeless preparation. When does he use that? Why? And how?

We also dig into how he presents. He has a pretty phenomenal case acceptance and how he gets that isn't what you might think!

What does practice management software look like in the future? John Kois, Jr., CEO of the Kois Center in Seattle, WA has a pretty good idea about that. In episode 147, John sat down with Alan to talk about a new, cloud based practice management software called Evidentiae Technologies. This innovative software was created to help dentists with administering and organizing patient data to help formulate risk factors and even treatment plans. John explains all the things that make this software worth checking out. Rumor has it that it will be available to the general dental public sometime this fall!
