Dr. Jamison Spencer joins Jason and Alan to talk about sleep medicine and TMD treatment in the dental office. Once you've learned some things about sleep apnea you come to see the symptoms and consequences in LOTS of your patients. Bruxism, gastric reflux, TMD and lots of other conditions are correlated with sleep apnea. Dentists are quickly becoming the most likely screeners for this potential deadly condition, and Dr. Jamison Spencer is one of the most sought after lecturers on the subject. Dr. Spencer joins Jason and Alan to explain how to incorporate this treatment into your practice, what symptoms to screen, what gadgets NOT to buy and what diagnoses you shouldn't be making! Dr. Spencer's online study club, "The Spencer Study Club" is only open for enrollment a couple times per year, but he's made it available to the listeners of the Dental Hacks podcast! If you're interested you need to email us at info@dentalhacks.com and we'll get you in touch with Dr. Spencer! This week we feature Dr. Jonathan Abenaim talking about what he prints and mills in his office as well as the Brain Trust talking about Instagram for the dental office and how video makes social media more powerful. Have you ever wondered "will I be printing stuff in my office someday?" Dr. Jonathan Abenaim is pretty sure most offices will be printing some stuff, but definitely milling a LOT of stuff. He's doing tons of it every day in his office and he tells us all about it in episode 139! What kind of scanner do you need? What order should you invest? You get it all from the man who runs Smile Syllabus, a one stop CE extravaganza all about incorporating technology into your practice! In our Brain Trust we feature Jason and Dr. Ryan McCall explaining to the older (read "more experienced") and less social media savvy Dr. Frank Clayton, Dr. Melissa Zettler and Alan. Instagram for the dental practice? Incorporating video? Local targeting? These guys lay it all out for you. As JLips says, "it's super easy." Sure, JLips. We believe you. Have you ever tried to mask a grey or discolored tooth with composite? It's not easy, right? Most opaques are white and chalky. I recently figured out that the best way to do it is use Pink Opaque from Cosmedent! It blocks out discoloration but leaves a warm, natural opaque in the process. I've never used anything like it. Go check it out at www.dentalhacks.com/pink Why is the Crystal HD mirror from Zirc different? It's the way that it's made. They use a combination of 3 metal oxide layers to coat their mirror lens. It's brighter and clearer than rhodium, but just as scratch resistant! Check out the Crystal HD mirror at www.dentalhacks.com/mirrors.
