If you work in dentistry, it's likely that you will have pain at some point. Many of us don't think about prevention, so by the time we realize that we could have done things differently, it's too late! Katrina Klein is a bodybuilder, ergonomics expert and certified trainer who helps dental people with their pain. She tells us some stories about dental teams in pain and what she does to help. We dive deep into how she determines what can help and we talk a lot about indirect vision. Use that mirror! Some links from the show: |

Welcome to season 1, episode 7 of the Clinical Hacks Podcast! In this riveting episode, we discuss what dental labs we use and why. Highlights include: - Kevin discusses how lab work is only about 10-15% of his crown and bridge, solidifying that he's better than the rest of us, but when he does use a lab, he uses Keating Dental Arts - Mac has a crush on the Dental Guys podcast and uses the lab they promote Dental Crafters - Zach is the guy who uses the local lab a few miles away #buylocal - Who pays the most for a Zirconia crown? Surely not the guy who prides himself as being Dr. Value - Kevin scans (possibly in a speedo) and describes how a digital work flow goes with lab work. - Sleep labs? NTI's? Biteguards..we touch on those also If you want to interact with us, head over to the closed Facebook Group Clinical Hacks We want to produce episodes about the questions you have, it's a great place to post a clinical topic, you don't even have to post a photo!

"You get the rough with the smooth." --Dr. Jason Smithson on having a specialty Alan and Jason continue their conversation about specialization. This episode is where we get to the good stuff where we really dig into the pros and cons of specialization and how generalists that long to be known for a particular kind of work might have it wrong! Jason debunks some of Alan's preconceived notions about how having a referral base makes a patient choosing treatment almost automatic. And Alan is mildly crushed. Also we discuss the excruciating problem of having a 20+ year old practice/patient base and the ups and downs of having a "history" with people. Finally, we open the door to a potential next podcast to talk about an ideal way to do group practice.
